Water Damaged Carpet Cleaning Melbourne

Carpet Drying Emergencies

24×7 Rapid Response Service For all Flooded Carpet and Wet Carpet Drying Emergencies Across Melbourne

Wet and flooded carpet creates an attractive environment for mould to breed, grow and spread. If you leave wet carpet unattended you will eventually be alerted to the smell of damp and will see the mould grow. Alternatively, you may smell the dampness but cannot see any visible mould as it may be growing under your carpet and spreading but is not yet visible to you.

The issue of wet carpet can become a huge and expensive
exercise of mould removal something that can be avoided with the quick engagement and action of a Water Damaged carpet cleaning  Specialist Service. If your carpet is left wet for more than 2-3days, it is very likely that it will be unsalvageable due to extensive contamination and mould damage.

To avoid these problems, we at Capital Facility Services, offer a 24×7 emergency wet carpet drying service; where a qualified Water Damage Restoration Technician will aim to commence the assessment and make safe program within one hour from your call across any part of Melbourne.

Our 6-Step Process

We use qualified Water Damage Restoration Technicians to project manage and lead all our water damage restoration programs. Our Water Damage Restoration Technicians are certified from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration, so you can be confident you are dealing with experts in the field of wet carpet cleaning and wet carpet drying. There is a specific 6-step process we follow to ensure your wet carpet is dried quickly and is free from water damage stains and smells.

Inspect, Assess & Plan

Our first step is to inspect the flooded carpet damage and determine the source of water ingress, as well as the extent of the water damage to your carpet, content, and other building structures.

We use specialised moisture monitors to measure the water saturation levels, humidity and other important metrics. Our Water Damage Specialists also use thermal imaging to assist them to determine the extent of water damage and the source of the water ingress.

We identify if the water damage is from clean or contaminated water sources, as well as the extent of water absorption and then design an appropriate water damage cleaning and wet carpet drying program. Toilet or sewerage overflow, for instances, is dirty water that may require us to pull up and remove your wet carpet due to the heavy contamination. Similarly, if there is mould on your carpet, the affected area will need to be cut and disposed.
Our qualified water damage restoration technicians will analyse your specific situation and will develop a customised carpet water damage restoration and structural drying program.
We will let you know if we believe you should remove your wet carpet and have it replaced, instead of attempting to dry and clean it. Even if your flooded carpet and underlay is not salvageable, excess water will need to be removed and the subfloor will still need to be dried out, as will any other water damaged structures.
We can then organise for new carpet to be laid and can also document our findings and recommendations in a report you can provide to your insurance company to help with any insurance claims you make regarding the water damage to your wet carpet.

Make Safe & Extract Water

We use specialised hot water extraction machines to quickly remove water from your carpets. This method is effective in removing water so that your carpets are not flooded and saturated for a long duration. The longer your carpet is saturated the more water it will absorb, and you are likely to end up with secondary issues relating to mould and mildew. Delayed water extraction and subsequent drying could also result in water wicking up walls and soaking into the sub-floor beneath the carpet, this will cause further damage that could be expensive to repair.
Watch these videos for an insight on how we might go about extracting water from your flooded carpet and water damaged underlay.
Please be aware that using towels to soak up water on saturated carpets is unlikely to be effective and could lead to problems of mould and mildew, if not followed up by a professional high powered water extraction program. You should never use a vacuum cleaner to remove water from your carpet as this could be very dangerous.
We have the equipment to extract water quickly and effectively, so call us to discuss how we can be of assistance to you. We endeavour to be at your water damaged location, in Melbourne, within an hour from when we receive your emergency water damage request for service.

Eliminate Contaminants, Odour and Poor Air Quality

The next step is for us to remove any odours and other contaminants associated with water damaged carpet and rugs by treating them with an environmentally friendly anti-microbial (bacterial treatment).

Controlling bacteria in affected environments will also reduce the secondary risk of mould damage  as mould breeds and quickly spreads in wet and moist environments.

If your carpet is saturated by contaminated water or is showing signs of mould growth the affected area will need to be cut out and removed. We will also need to cut out any mould imbedded into water damaged skirting boards and plaster.
Also, be aware that if extensive mould is found on your carpet or other water damaged structures, we may need to contain the affected areas and continue our water damage restoration program in the contained and sealed environment to avoid the spread of mould. If this is the case, Air Filtration Devices will be required to filter and trap any airborne contaminants and mould spores. This simple step dramatically reduces the risk of contaminants and significantly reduces the extent of your water damage repair costs.

Wet Capet Drying and Moisture Control Program

The drying phase of our Water Damage Repair program includes the management of airflow, temperature, and moisture. These factors are controlled using specialised Air Movers, Dehumidifiers, and other commercial grade drying equipment to provide effective drying programs for the different classes and categories of water damage on different surfaces
To achieve optimal results, we may need to lift your carpets. We can then determine if your carpet underlay is redeemable or will need to be replaced. If it needs to be replaced, we will pull it out and dry your carpets as well as the subfloor beneath.
We can then organise for new underlay to be installed and your carpet to be re-laid. If your carpet is not redeemable through our intensive drying program, we will recommend your carpet is replaced and can organise this for you.
We are experts in structural drying and will determine if your wet carpet has caused water to wick up your plaster walls (soft and hard), into the bearers, joists, or into the subfloor or other structures. If it has, we will commence a suitable structural drying program.

Carpet Repair & Structural Reinstatement

When the drying program is finalised, we will inspect to see if your carpet will require any further treatment to neutralise and remove any stains or browning that resulted from your carpet water damage.
As required, we will steam clean your carpets on completion of the wet carpet water damage restoration program we undertake. Steam cleaning and use of the browning treatment beforehand will remove any staining so that your carpet is bought to its pre-loss condition.
We can also organise to have new underlay and carpet laid in cases where we had to remove water damaged carpet that was contaminated and not salvageable.
Where water has wicked up walls or other building structures, we dry these items and depending on the degree of damage can replace structural elements, organise replastering and painting etc.

Activity & Insurance Reporting

At Capital Facility Services we keep detailed records of all our findings and actions regarding each of the Flooded Carpet Drying and Wet Carpet Restoration programs we undertake.

We monitor moisture levels, take photos, and note our findings and actions from each attendance. This information is captured electronically on site using our mobile App and is automatically available to our office where it can be transformed into detailed reports. Where required we can provide these detailed reports of our findings and actions to your insurance company to support any insurance claims.

We work with many insurance companies and know their requirements, so you can be comfortable in knowing our reporting will assist you to settle any insurance claims quickly.
